Immersed in Creativity: A Survey on User-generated Content within a VR Social Platform
More Info on Peter's Research and How to Participate
Bonito here! There are still two weeks to participate in Peter’s survey Immersed in Creativity. I wanted to give you, our sweet readers, some context on Peter’s experience and intent with this research.
Peter is an active VRChat user and often spends time world hopping and attending Community Meetup on Sundays. He has immersed himself in VRChat creative communities and built relationships with creators of all types. If you have any questions for Peter, you can contact him at glitchesvr@gmail.com.
Disclaimer: This research is being done by an independent body with the sole purpose of learning more about the communities and users that engage with VR social platforms. The results obtained may not fully reflect the playerbase as a whole along with the general consensus drawn from this study.
Please check it out! It takes about 10-20 minutes to complete💚
Hello Peter, can you tell us a bit about yourself?
I am a degreed (B.S. in 2020) and credentialed molecular technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (in 2023) with previous university research. Everything about social VR, how it manifests imagination, absurd shenanigans, and can be really unhinged sometimes, sparks my curiosity. I want to learn to understand as much as I can.
Why are you interested in studying social VR?
A few reasons for that. One of the main reasons would be that I want to know how people and communities engage with the different aspects of social VR. This could include anything from content generation, social activities, optimization, or environment preference. I would also like to take this opportunity to refresh and improve my research skills while engaged with this very interesting topic.
What are your research goals? Timeline
My goal for this research is to get a grasp on the composition of users that create content vs those that do not while also summarizing the motivations and incentives behind it. I am also interested in looking at the general consensus on questions related to content creation that are asked in this survey. I intend to share these findings near the end of the year.
